Bitcoin came close to $19,000 and capitalisation exceeded $350 billion

On the night of Saturday 21 November, the price of the first cryptographic currency updated another annual high, coming close to $19,000.

At 02:25 UTC quotations on Bitstamp rose to $18,977, after which the price corrected. At the time of writing, Bitcoins is traded around $18,700.

Only 7% separates the crypt currency from the historic high of $20,000, which was recorded in December 2017.

Bitcoin capitalisation rose to a new record high of $351.34 billion.

Recently, there have been increasing statements from major investors that the first crypt currency is capable of replacing gold as a tool to preserve value.

The day before, Fundstrat Global Bitcoin Revolution Advisors‘ managing partner Tom Lee said that this year’s bitcoin „crushes all other hedging instruments and asset classes“.

„2021 could be a year of fireworks for Bitcoin. Perhaps the best is yet to come,“ he added.

A similar view was expressed by Rick Reader, Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management company. According to him, bitcoin is a reliable mechanism that is „much more functional“ than a gold bar.
